Tall Ship Toronto, Ontario, 2006
Water colour on paper.
Some of us who were in Toronto at the time remember the visit of the tall ships. They conjured up a sense of magic, of a time gone by, rarely thought of even in a new country like Canada. Anna visited the tall ships and took a series of photographs. Despite the fact that she has lived in land-locked Alberta for many years, there has always been a strong nautical theme to her work.
In Anna’s words: “Although I took some photos of the tall ships, I didn’t actually paint it until almost 20 years later. Something about those ships stuck with me though. I had such an incredible feeling when I saw them, they were so graceful, you just couldn’t believe it.”
