Anna explores the different seasons in her paintings and each season seems to evoke its own special atmosphere and feelings in the viewer. In her autumn paintings, we feel a certain nostalgia and calmness, as if we’re just waiting for the winter. In this painting, it feels like winter is here, and the nostalgia gives away to a sense of forlornness and even despair.
In Anna’s words:
“Yet again, I felt myself drawn to these abandoned structures. These buildings, if they could talk, seem to be saying, ‘Leave me alone! I’ve done my work and I want to rest!’”
